Karl Manfred Rennertz, born on January 25th, 1952, Professor of sculpture in Detmold, Germany. He paints, draws and works in wood, concrete, bronze and ceramics.
His monumental, archaic human sculptures have made him an internationally sought-after artist. Since the 1980's, he has also been blackening them with a welding torch and sometimes adding color to them. His sculptures evolved gradually from his original naturalistic portrait style to more abstract forms.
