1957-1962 studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart (GER). In the 1960s he switched from abstract painting to sculpture. 1964 Development of the concept “from surface to space”. In 1965 creation of sculptures made of polyester “Raumkörper” (spatial bodies). 1969 first large sculptures as well as large wall and room installations. 1990 group of works ‘Stable-unstable’ – panels, collages and sculptures made of wood. 2010 Beginning of the group of works ‘From Real to Imaginary Space’: sculptures and panel paintings
H. Kuhnert was one of the first artists in Germany to work with the plastic polyester.
In 1985 he received the Sponsorship Award of the State of Lower Saxony, as well as in 1970 the Prize of the Kingdom of Nepal at the international exhibition in Kathmandu.
