(b. 1961) Painting, drawing, object. The artist is interested in unconventional means of artistic expression. Sałaj enters a dialogue with the matter: he transforms objects and substances, removing them from their traditional context. He glues and models a printed ream of paper, transforming it into a sculpture, constructing a machine imprinting yet more layers of symbols onto the white expanse of paper, until cutting pattern, cardboard wrapping or a paint roller. In this manner, he provokes questions about the structure of the work and the mechanical nature of creation. He is professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Krakow.
