Jacek Waltos was a Polish artist who studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1957 to 1963. He began working with sculpture in 1960, creating torsos and figures with negative imprints. He was a member of the Wprost group, which emphasized opposition to art indifferent to the dramas of life. Waltos was known for his ostentatious realism in his works, which won him first prizes at the annual exhibitions Sculpture of the Year in 1965 and 1966.
