The art of Victor Mira (Larache, Morocco, former Spanish colony, 1949 - Breitburnn am Amersee, Munich, Germany, 2003), is strongly related to his biography. Also, he has been recognised by art criticism because of his capacity to synthesize both informalist proceedings and figurative tradition. Furthermore, he dealt with traditional genres of painting in a very personal way, including still life paintings.
Although Mira was better known as a painter, he also worked hard as a sculptor, ceramist or graphic artist, without forgetting his installations and the huge production in the drawing field. Another key element in his artistic proposal is poetry, leaving books which he made carefully.
Whatever the artistic medium, Victor Mira's work is clearly inspired by a pulsation and a thematic pertinacity as unique as it is consistent, with the corpus as the maximum expression of his search for an Absolute that is perhaps never so utterly invincible as we might believe. In his figures, mainly sitting and in profile, there are not communication among them, and are presented full of solitude feelings and a mythical immobility.
